“The Body & The Mind - Its All About You”

The Department of Anatomy organized a grand Workshop on “Health and Fitness” at M.M Convention Centre, Saveetha Dental College on 1st of April 2017 and it gained a total of 277 participants. Students & Staff from our college and other Medical, Dental & Nursing colleges also participated in it including parents and other health care professionals.

The participants were welcomed by an inspiring dance by the I BDS students. The work shop was inaugurated by Director of Academics Dr. Deepak Nallasamy, Dr. Ramakrishnan, Cardiothoracic surgeon, Apollo Hospitals, Dr Sheeja Varghese, Associate Dean of Academics and Mrs. Thenmozhi, Head, Department of Anatomy.  

Inaugration was followed by a guest lecture by Dr. Ramakrishnan, Cardiothoracic surgeon, Apollo Hospitals on “Input life into your Heart for a healthy output”. After a healthy snack break the participants had hands on training on self stretching in “Flex Stretch & Extend” By Mr. Yuvaraj Babu, Assistant Professor, Department of Anatomy.

Dr. Karpagam Krishnamoorthy, Lecturer,Department of Anatomy gave advices on diet in her talk “Eat what you need and not what you greed”. This was followed by a talk by Professor.

Dr.EMG. Subramanian, Professor & Head, Department of Pedodontics, Saveetha Dental College delivered a lecture on “Fit bit with EMG”.

To conclude the workshop Dr. Karpagam and students gave a demonstration of Muscle Toning Exercises. Feedback from students of other colleges was got; Participation certificates were given followed by a Healthy Lunch to end the workshop.

“Hands-on Workshop on Referencing and Citation Managers for Beginners” - 04.02.2019

Department of Anatomy, Saveetha Dental College organized a Hands-on Workshop on Referencing and Citation Managers for Beginners” on 02nd February 2019 from 9.00 am to 12.00 noon. Mrs. M.S. Thenmozhi, Professor and Head, Department of Anatomy, Saveetha Dental College  welcomed the gathering.

Dr. Silambarasan Moskomani, NUS Med Post-doctoral Fellow, Department of Anatomy, National University of Singapore, delivered he first lecture. He introduced the basics of referencing and different citation styles and its components.

Dr. Durairaj Sekar, Associate Professor, Dental Research Cell, updated on the latest version of ENDNOTE® and enumerated the different functionalities and options in it.

Dr Ganesh Lakshmanan, Senior Lecturer, Department of Anatomy, Saveetha Dental College compared the pros and cons and practical applicability of Mendeley® and Zotero® softwares for referencing.

Dr. M. Karthik Ganesh, Senior Lecturer, Department of Anatomy, Saveetha Dental College explained the suitability of Paperpile® and how to work in tandem with Google docs. The students were also given Hands-on training on the same.

The speakers were felicitated and presented with gifts by Mrs. M. S. Thenmozhi, Professor and Head, Department of Anatomy. Dr. Dinesh Premavathy, Lecturer, from the Department of Anatomy, delivered the vote of thanks.

“Manuscript Writing – Bootcamp” - 20.03.2019

The Department of Anatomy, Saveetha Dental College organized an workshop on “Manuscript writing – Bootcamp” on 20.03.2019, Wednesday from 9.00 AM to 12.00 AM. Mrs Thenmozhi, Head, Department of Anatomy, Saveetha Dental College welcomed the gathering and gave an introductory speech on the need for seminar on manuscript writing. Dr Ganesh Lakshmanan, senior lecturer, Department of Anatomy introduced the speakers to the gathering and moderated the sessions.

Dr. Jhansi Nathan, DST INSPIRE faculty fellow, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, gave a lecture on general considerations of research to manuscript. Dr.M.Suganthi, DST SERB National Postdoctoral Fellow, Centre for Biotechnology, Anna University, Chennai, gave a talk on details of title and introduction of a research manuscript.

Dr.Nandhini, DST INSPIRE fellow, microbiologist, IRL- RNTCP-State TB cell, Tamilnadu, discoursed on materials and methods section and results section of a manuscript. Dr.S.Bavithra, Assistant Professor, Department of Medical Lab Technology, Loyola College, Chennai gave a talk on ‘Art of discussing and concluding a manuscript’. Dr.Suraiya Saleem, Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Neurobiology, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology discussed on the post production works of a manuscript. Mrs Thenmozhi, Head, Department of Anatomy, Saveetha Dental College felicitated the speakers and Dr.DineshPremavathy, senior lecturer, Department of Anatomy delivered the vote of thanks.
